Default Wow!

After a long week of dealing with the crazies at the casino, little sleep, and a few very long sweltering hours of fighting L.A. traffic to and fro my proctologist in preparation for my forthcoming colonoscopy, I came home to this most surprising thread.

I'll tell ya, for a guy that makes his living talking with folks from every possible walk of life and every country that this world has, I find myself at a "insanely rare" (as my friend Mark likes to say) loss for words.

My sincere gratitude not only to all that posted here but to all that have taken the time to contribute to the scores of threads I started posting just about a year ago. Without all of you, my threads would have just faded away into the net54 archives.

People who don't collect tend to think of it as a lonely endeavor, but they couldn't be more wrong. I've been in the gaming business for 33 years now and I feel a stronger bond with my fellow board members than I do with my most of my coworkers.

Thanks to Leon and all the Mods who have given us all a fantastic place to share our passion and escape from our day to day grind. You've made our world a better place.

Anyway, I could go on but what I really want to say is that all I was doing was "paying it forward". Starting with the guys who were willing to do deals with me, guys like Rick (oldtix) who was so generous in selling me a key piece in my collection, to others like Richard Simon (the shot heard round the world ticket stub) and Dan Bretta (some terrific snapshots) and Rhys who I did a rather large photo deal with right before the Nat'l. And to my many pals like Steve, who started this thread, David Mac who almost single handedly talked me into getting the Gehrig 10 'to Jimmy" auto, Al keeper of my future Gehrig/Burke photo, Rick again, two Scotts, Brock, Jason, Barry, Rhett, Anthony, Jantz, Ben, Jay, Greg, Jeff, William, Rob, Johnny, and at least three Mikes and many more of "yous guys".

But most of all, to Graig who has become the little Brutha that I've been missing from my life and the two "Marks" (perezfan & lordstan) who were first to bestow gifts upon me, and have been friends to lean on as well. I just did what my folks had always taught me... to do unto others...

Thanks Guys, thanks to ALL of you for making this last year one I won't soon forget.

Sincerely, Jimmy

Let me add my appreciation for Jimmy's kindness and enthusiasm. He's become a trusted friend and a real cheerleader for this previously-fragmented area of the hobby. Being able to share discoveries and gain knowledge from fellow collectors via this forum (thanks, Leon) has added a whole new level of enjoyment to the hobby.

Besides, I'm a pushover for anyone (else) who gets excited about 70-year old cereal boxes.

One thing Ive learned, and its obvious on this thread, is how much passion people have for fellow collectors and this great hobby. I can only mostly observe, but Ive found Jimmy to be a classy guy too in several ways.

There isn't a lot we can count on in life, but the fact that the hobby will always give us so many interesting people, both as we learn about them on here, and the men and women that have played pro sports, and mainly baseball for many of us.

Thanks to everyone who has made it fun again.

Hey Jimmy- I'm having a colonoscopy this Friday. Maybe when we're done we can compare notes.
