I'm new here and have seen some really incredible, drool-worthy items. I want to see more, so I'm going to show off a bit myself.
I'm sure that there have been some book posts in the past, but I did a search and couldn't find one from this year. If you have any signed baseball books, show them off here! Three major highlights of my auto'd book collection: Baseball In the Big Leagues by Johnny Evers (1910) ![]() ![]() It's Good to Be Alive by Roy Campanella (1959) ![]() ![]() Umpiring from the Inside by Billy Evans (1947) ![]() ![]() Here's the entire collection: http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/f...igned%20Books/ Let's see or hear about some baseball books! And if anybody has any for sale or trade, I'd love to hear about that, too.

I don't have any to post, but would love to own the Mask that Billy Evans is holding. That model with the ornate cage and ear flaps would sell for over a grand, if you could even find one today.
Neat post... hope others respond here, and keep this thread alive. |

Thanks for posting on baseball books. It's nice to see another poster besides Barry and me.
Starting off with a couple of Church's Base Ball, 1902 ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm (slowly) uploading scans of my book collection, which can be seen on Flickr here Max

Bought this book off eBay for cheap (like thirty bucks +/-) three or four years ago. Seller told me the sig wasn't real. Looks pretty good compared to exemplars I have seen but then the forgers do pretty good work, and besides, what do I know, I'm just a dumb land surveyor. One of these days I'll have one of the big city experts take a look at it.

This is a project I started at the very end of 1989. Donald Honig's Baseball in the '30's. I got 75 autographs in it myself:

Here is a letter sent back by harry Danning agreeing to sign it for me. I sent it through the mail so many times that the binding came loose and my dad had to fix it. After about a dozen times sending it in I got wise and started mailing the players ahead of time asking them if they would sign it. Only Dolph Camilli refused.

I only have two books
First, is Gil Hodges. I was glad to get this because it's bold and crisp. Secondly, here is one signed my Mickey Mantle. |

Not only are those two great items, but two of the finest looking examples of Mickey and Gil's signatures Ive seen.

I would have to agree with Scott on that. When I saw the Hodges, I was thinking that it was one of the best I've ever seen on any medium.
Congrats! |

I have to agree about the Hodges.
In fact, one of the reasons that I like signed books so much, even for modern signers, is that they tend to slow down and sign their complete name (as opposed to a card or ball).

Baseball Tips by Billy Sullivan. Signed by Billy Sullivan (son of the T206er) and Clarence Fieber, from the 1934 AA Milwaukee team
![]() Fieber only pitched 13 innings for Milwaukee in 1934. He pitched in the PCL for Oakland when he was 18 and 19 in 1932 and 1933. Despite pitching early at this high level, he never pitched in the majors.

Thanks to Scott & Scott as well as Mighty Bombjack for your kind words regarding the Hodges signature. It took me a couple of years to find a nice signature of his. He is tough. A lot of his signatures are tiny cuts in pencil from programs. Also, being a Mets fan it had to be something signed from my favorite team, therefore, eliminating the Dodgers and Senators. When I finally found it, it was a great moment.

Veeck as in Wreck is one of my all time favorite books as well Rick. Max, Baseball the Fan's Game signed by Mickey Cochrane is the one item I regret selling, but still enjoy seeing it when it surfaces. I sold my signed copy back in 1989 when I was in college and needed the money(sold for $150). My father gave it to me when I was 12 and he thought that my grandmother had it signed by Mickey at a book signing at the J.L. Hudson Bookshop in Detroit. Though I still kick myself over the sale because of the family connection, the book was a beginning to a life long appreciation for the history of baseball and collecting baseball memorabilia. Sorry the files are so big.

Seeing the Milwaukee Braves edition from the Putnam series got my attention. I just picked up a copy signed by Lynch last month. I have been working on the entire series signed by the authors for years. When I get I new one I get rid of the unsigned edition on my shelf. For me the Putnam series is one of the highlights of my collection-card,book, whatever. Great history and very well written!

Hot Springs Bathers- Good luck in your pursuit and congrats on your pickup of the late Milwaukee edition signed by Russ Lynch. Milwaukee Sentinel sports editor Russ Lynch, through the power of the press, played an important role in pressuring Boston Braves owner Lou Perrini to either commit to moving to Milwaukee or give up the territorial rights and therefore pave the way for Bill Veeck to move the Browns into the city. The author signature in this case has an added significance.

Thanks Tigerden! I had the Kaese signed book from years ago so this was a nice addition. It came on the heels of THE UMPIRE STORY signed by James Kahn. To pick up two signed Putnams in a 60 day period was nice.

Haven't seen anything new on this one for awhile. This is my Hall of Fame book that I started using to collect HOF autographs back in the Late 80's. Approx 70 autographs so far...here are a few
