I sure hope a rookie doesn't get burned by this fake T206 Cobb. The bidding history has all the earmarks of pork (I mean....shilling).

Did you see the 1933 Goudey Nap Lajoie he also sold? Check through his feedback. Won't take long. It's only at 12.
--Update on the Ty Cobb he is selling. I asked him a question about his Ty Cobb card and immediately got this reply: Dear jb217676, IT DOESNT SAY REPRINT ON IT ANYWHERE I WAS TOLD IT WOULD SAY THAT IF IT WAS. - jeremypadilla

Is it appropriate to contact the winner of the Lajoie card and tell them that they bought a reprint the seller paid only $9.99 for on Dec 27?

I would and I've contacted scammed winners in the past. All scammed winners I've contacted have either got there money back or are in the process of doing so.

Okay, I know outing these fake cards gets old. But come-on now, two different FAKE T206 Cobb "red portrait" auctions running at the same time; by different scammers (err...sellers) is way past the line of decency. I will give this seller some "brownie points" for including the FAKE '33 Goudey Ruth card, but at the same time issue a demerit for including the line about "my ex-husbands (is he dead?) cards." That line is really so eBay circa late 1990's.
Yikes! Currently at $700!!! Look at the fourth picture, that place looks like a mess, and those husky fingers in the third picture remind me of a Seinfeld episode. Double Yikes! http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTHENTIC-1911-T...mZ160402250625 Lovely Day... Last edited by iggyman; 02-12-2010 at 10:04 PM. Reason: Enhanced the spiffiness... |

Question #1: Why do all ebay scammers have no lower case function on their computers?
Question #2: Why did they stop paying attention to grammar lessons in the third grade? Just wondering... JimB |

As for Ebay seller...bradentonfordgirl ( 1 )...who has the Ruth & Cobb up for sale...all I can say is the smartest one in that divorce was her EX. He probably got the Dodge Omni and she got a hypothetical $5K in reprints.

This is the perfect example of why bidders need to put forth the effort to do five seconds of research. Bradentonfordgirl has one transaction in history. They bought an item from abandg who has everything listed as private so you can't see a picture of the transaction....but when you click items for sale there are four nice reprints for sale in which he clearly states they are fake. Therefore, it doesn't take someone who isn't even knowledgeable about the hobby to put 2 and 2 together and realize this is a scam. Whomever wins....deserves the letdown.

I almost was going to bid on this nice looking card. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I asked him why the front top border wasn't shown in the pics. Here's why. Everyone please do some research |

Jeremy Padilla is actually Jeremy Markell.
http://www.whig.com/Markell-Theft--TUES I'm a noob and got burned, tried to do due diligence but PayPal didn't tell me his real name until after....sad that some people exist as criminals and never learn. Sad also that ebay and paypal do nothing to prevent this from happening. |

That Jeremy name sounded familiar. Apparently that "Quincy eBay" story has been discussed on this forum in the past...
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...Jeremy+Markell Regrettably, eBay scammers are a dime a dozen. I'm sorry you lost some money, but here is a similar eBay horror story that was recently in the local papers... http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/pal...,6838791.story Lovely Day... |

I thought ebay required that anyone selling a red Cobb as an original could only do so if it was graded, not raw? Or has ebay done away with this rule?

Thanks iggyman, that other story clearly is a horror show. This is all my fault, I learned a lesson, and I'm definitely old enough to know better. Wish I knew about this site before......
