I've been to the ones in 2002; 2004 and 2006; and it's been 4 years since the final conference so there should be a lot of good seminars; friendships and other goodies. Last time; we had several fun group outings including a college ball game; the Friday Night Seafood buffet; a cook out and a trip to the best BBQ house in Hot Springs.
If interested; please note when this conference is and I promise if you live near Hot Springs, Arkansas you will come away with a new appreciation for the "deadball" era and a new love for pre-World War I players and thus the cards they were on.
"Hi, everyone. You can reserve a room at the historic Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas, for "Boiling Out", that celebration of Deadball-Era spring training, scheduled for March 4-7, 2010. To do so, call the Arlington at 1-800-643-1502. Be sure to request the "Society for American Baseball Research" group rate. To get an idea of the rooms available, see their website (
http://www.arlingtonhotel.com).
Of course, you don't have to book a room at the Arlington in order to attend the conference, but if you haven't stayed there before, it's a delight. (Those of you bringing non-baseball-fan spouses might want to consider the amenities!)
If you would like to give a research presentation, or have other ideas for activities for this event, please let me know. So far, we have two definites and a maybe, so there's plenty of room on the schedule"
Regards
