I'm also curious about the Ruth coin, as I have owned one of these since the 1980's and have never found any info on it. I always wondered if it had some connection to Wheaties cereal due to the usage of the word "champion". Anyone?

The first medallion was a high-quality generic item that was also cast depicting other sports as swimming, track, etc. They were offered commercially, and would typically be purchased by organizations (e.g., schools, athletic clubs) that hosted athletic competitions. The reverse is often engraved with the event, as "First place, 100 yard dash". Sometimes they also included the date. The dated pieces I have seen are from around 1915. It may also have originally come with a ribbon and pin for wearing, and was likely presented in its own silk-lined case.
I believe the celluloid clip was attached to a pencil and sold by vendors in the 1950s to score games at Tiger (Briggs) Stadium. The first two poker chips are made of ivory or bone, and are from around 1900. The third is made of some type of clay and I believe is newer. |

The first two poker chips might be made of Bakelite.
