Todd Marcum, partner in an ad agency in Roanoke Virginia. Once interview with Rich Klien to be a writer at Beckett...probably turned out better that I didn't get the job (it was for Hockey, which isn't my main interest).
A former shop owner and show promoter, I have not actively dealt in cards since 1993 or so when I sold my shop. I am 48 and I coach aau baseball, with little effect, truth be told. My son is a power hitting third baseman who looks more like a football player at 14 years old, 5'11 and a muscular 175. He has the collecting bug as well. We normally go to shows in Chantilly and the Moeller show Thanksgiving weekend. I also have a wonderful daughter, great wife and a redbone hound. I have collected pre-war cards for a very long time....my first T206 was a Snodgrass. While I collect some new cards...I got this weird thing where I collect serial numbered cards, numbered 001/100 or 01/50 or 0001/2500 and Marshall University former players...picked up a 1955 Ashland Oil Marshall College Big Green set last year at Cincy. Looking forward to the national in Baltimore next year...I have been to three previously...Atlanta, Atlantic City and Houston. I still pick up pre-war, but i have to have a hankering for it. Most of the things I need are pretty expensive and it seems that putting it in college fund is more sensible. I also like to play APBA baseball, old-fashioned dice version...anyone else?

31 years old. I have been married since 2001, and in 2007 we had our first, a daughter. I began collecting in 1986 right as I was getting over collecting G.I.Joe figures and have never really stopped (with a small hiatus while living in Southern Ecuador for two years as a 19-21 years old). My main collecting focuses are Colgans Chips (E254 & the two E270 sets), Zeenut cards (mainly the pre-B/W 1911-1923 cards), E121 & all related backs, and Player Pinbacks pre-1930. The last one goes in spurts, I really love the Cameo Pepsin pinbacks but I rarely get to add them to my collection (currently own 10-11 of them).

My main claim to fame is a talented spouse Jennifer Ettinger who paints in the baseball area (as well as dogs, kids, etc). It's an Ebbets Field Flannels jersey of the Vancouver Beavers of the NW league. They are being sold at Nat Bailey gift shop, and if I recall correctly, there's one left -- medium size. 53 years old Strikingly handsome bald guy Like sunsets and walks along the beach...........oops, not a dating site... Anyway, been married for 25 years this Oct. to someone who liked wrappers and press pins because they are cool sports art, so those have been a collecting concentration. Have 3 great kids, a boy who graduated from the University of Illinois and actually got a job (Yippee!), another boy who is a senior at the University of Iowa is an RA and is taking the LSAT in a couple weeks. The princess is last in line and is a senior in a suburban Chicago high school, playing tennis and badminton. They like my collection because I get into it but don't really collect. Luckily had a pack rat for a mom so all my cards survived. On my wedding day, as my wedding present, my uncle comes up to me during the reception and hands me the flap of a cardboard box with about 40 Orbit Gum pins on it. I ask where they came from, and he says there is a box of stuff that came from my late grandma's house. Turns out Dad's collection from the 30's survived! Dad and I were staples at all the Chicago area shows for years. Even brought the kids when they were little to get their pictures taken with the autograph signers (luckily, no extra fees for a photo op back then). Dad worked on sets from his era (Goudeys, Play Balls, DeLongs, Tatto Orbits, premiums, and exhibits) and I did Topps from 1953-1990. After that, I went to tobacco and finished T200, T201, T205, T206. Also did some autographs and have a complete Perez-Steele set and all the Gold HOF plaques signed. After discovering this Board about a year ago, I was sucked in by the passion for caramel cards and finished sets of E93, E95, and E98. Dad is 89 now and I miss going to the shows with him but I am trying to finish the sets he started (Exhibits from 1923-24, 1925 - need only Terry, 26 31/32, 33, 25-31 Exhibits, Dietsche, Grignon, Morgan Red Belt, $ in Shield, E121 series of 80, R303-A, R314, R315, and a couple elusive Orbit Gum unnumbered pins). After getting out of teaching, coaching, and athletic directorship in an elementary district, I coordinate 225 sports officials in 5 sports and assign over 12,000 games per year. Also, I run basketball and baseball tourneys and a 55 team Fall baseball league that started this weekend. In my spare time, I walk our cock-a-poo, Kelsey (the only female in the house that listens to me), and will come out of retirement this Tuesday to play slow pitch softball with my eldest son. It is a dream come true, but after our two hour practice earlier today, various body parts are screaming in agony and I am being reminded why I stopped playing in the first place.

1st post ever on this site, here goes
My name is John and i am addicted to baseball cards. Wow, that was easy. I have been a lurker on here for 2-3 years. I am 40 years old and live in Cleveland, Ohio. I started collecting cards in 1976 and have never stopped. I normally work on a set from each era. t-206, w572, 1950 bowman, 1968 topps are my current selections. I post over at gameuseduniverse and enjoy the memorabilia side of the addiction, excuse me, hobby. I was married in 2003 and we adopted our daughter in 2006 from russia. I sold a lot of my collection at that time to fund our journey and it was well worth it. My job is in equipment recovery, imagine Richard Gere in Pretty Woman buying companies and breaking them apart. Just without the hookers. Some interesting facts about me, I have over 12 Buddy Bell game used jersey's in my collection I have been involved with the demo company that has taken down Cleveland Municipal Stadium, The Orange Bowl and currently Yankee Stadium I once had a 1 in 4,000 chance of winning "The Card' the Gretzky/Mcnall Honus Wagner. The card was won by Patricia Gibbs and sold for $640,000, not that I would remember THAT at all. I enjoy reading the posts on this forum, even the train wrecks. 37 years old. Living in Southern California with my girlfriend. I started collecting in 1977 and never really stopped. After 11 years of teaching first grade, for the last two I have been teaching 4th grade in a small suburb north of L.A. (district only has 4 schools). Other than baseball (Dodgers and Phillies) I like to read, go to movies, and surf the net. I also make mosaic art (latest piece was a desk). I have two rather large collections. The first is a Phillies collection that spans 1886-1989. I am trying to collect one of everything. My wantlist started out as a 21 page 10 point font monster. Ten years later it is down to 13 pages at a 14 font. Most of it is still prewar. My other passion is T205s. I have been working with this set for nearly 15 years now. I have been tracking sales for 11 years and have done a great deal of research on the set itself. I have 1 complete master set minus the Hoblitzell no stats. I am still missing a Drum back as well. I have nearly 500 distinct front back combos and nearly 1000 T205s total. I love this set and am always looking to add to the collection (raw, lower grade).

It's great to see so many new posters coming on the board in this thread. Here goes:
Barry Sloate, Age 57 Married for 24 years, no children Have lived in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn, NY for the past 35 years (same apartment). Got my B.A. from C.W. Post College and my Master's Degree in English Literature from New York University. Taught college English for three years. I've been a full time baseball card dealer since 1983, but not very active in the hobby at the moment. My collecting interests include baseball display pieces, rare baseball books, and large cents, but even those have taken a back seat lately. Love classic rock and jazz, listen to music all the time...that's all I can think of at this time.
