In the olden days, they used award charms like this on many sports (which doesn't mean they're common in today's market, as they aren't). In the estate of Pre-WWI Boston Red Sox pitching star Smokey Joe Wood were a number of circa 1920s Yale charms from when he was their baseball coach. Smokey's charms were very similar to the above pictured, except they were gold and shaped as baseballs. |
