I have owned several of these tins. They really are quite nice. There are several different types of tins that were produced by the Rock City Tobacco Co. for their Chicago Cubs brand. The round tin you have is by far the easiest to come across, but is still not that easy to find. They also made a square variety very similar to the round one, which is much tougher. However there is a "generic" tin that they produced that is actually the toughest, but it is not nearly as decorative. In essense it is a square Rock City Tobacco Co tin that has stickers attached to the ends and top that carry the Chicago Cubs brand name. I have only ever seen two of the generic ones (I am sure there are more out there, just don't follow them that closely). I currently own one of the generic ones, and will try to get a picture up later if anybody is interested in seeing what it looks like. Anyways, I hope this helps. |

I'm told there was an A's one as well, do you have one of these? |

No, I don't have an A's one. I am still getting used to my new digital camera but here is the "generic" tin I was speaking of... |

Mine is round, bright yellow, with four large eagles on it. I will try and download a photo. I am computer illiterate, so don't hold your breath. |

I know the one you are talking about Mike and it is not really that rare. In the last year I have seen one on ebay and one in a Mastro Classic Collectors auction. The one on ebay brought about $40, and the one in the Mastro auction was in a group of baseball related tins that sold for IIRC the minimum $100 bid. |

Thanks Dan. Greatly appreciated. Although value was never an issue. I was just getting a feel as to rarity. Being metal, I was certain they weren't that rare. Fun to have sitting on top of my 100 year old roll top desk. Although my desk has so many things sitting on it, there is not much room left to do any work. Thanks again. |
