Default Last 2008 Pickup Thread

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

Been a while since I posted anything new to me in the Pickup Threads... but since I've finally gotten a card I've been after for about 20 years, it seemed time. And thank you to a board member for parting with it.

But first before the scan, Marty, a nice W514, if you've not read the Walter Johnson book written by his grandson, you must read it. Scott is mentioned in there, a key player. Justin, if that slightly peeled Cobb is an E102, I love it! Brian, EVERY Mike Gonzalez card is golden, you know of his 4 word telegram to Branch Rickey describing a prospect?? Mr. Rickey appreciated frugality.

I wish everyone well in their 2009 collecting pursuits.

Not long ago I finally got a 1934 4 in 1 Exhibit that has Len Koenecke on it. He had such an interesting, and short, baseball career. Difficult to get him on a card.

Now, my new card. One really difficult T3 Turkey Red, finally nabbed.

20 years, the delays make acquisition all the better!
