Default In today's economy, with reference to collecting, I am ...

Posted By: David Poses

i've been on a buying spree (i'm in the supermarket business. this is a good year for us.). for the most part, everything i've bought recently on ebay (10 or so cards in the past month) have been cheaper than i expected.

i am finding the selection to be not so hot though. i'm guessing that some of the more rare cards i've been looking for (not ridiculously rare- e94 dougherty, e98 vaughn, etc) haven't been showing up because sellers fear getting crushed with an NR auction on ebay starting at 99cents, and if everyone is afraid that nobody has any money, listing a card at a fixed price (BIN on ebay or BST here) can be discouraging when it gets no interest.

i listed a psa3 e101 knight on the BST for almost a month, lowered the price a few times and didn't get any interest. finally listed it on ebay- it sold for almost what i paid for, which was a lot more than the final asking price on the BST but i haven't heard from the winning bidder yet. the card sold on sunday, so i'm not too worried yet, but it does make me wonder if we're going to see more people placing bids on multiple auctions, not expecting to win all of them, winning all of them, and then only paying for the ones they really want...
