The only time I have a great wife is from the time I fall asleep till the time my rottweiler wakes me up by licking my face,and sometimes if him doing that doesnt wake me up the wife in my dream seems even better. I made a comment in the "What would it take..." thread which I had an issue with...until I read the comments made by the same poster made in this one. Elaborating won't do any good so there's no reason to bother.

Anyway...

To answer the question, you know you have a great wife when, at the beginning and end of the day, she simply says she loves you. If she puts up with your nonsense in between, all the better. Of course, if she is a Yankees fan, all bets are off.

I agree with Jim Crandell in his assessment that every single post that Bruce makes on this board is interesting, thought-provoking, or guaranteed to start discussion. While there have been posts of Bruce's that have made me angry, there have been an equal number of them that have made me think.

That said, Bruce said this:

Bruce, if you really work this much, by my calculations, you work 6,552 hours a year. I will estimate your age at 35, and also estimate that you've been working full time since you emerged from your Masters' program at 25. That means you've been working ten solid years for more than 65,000 hours. If you've been working longer than that, I apologize for underestimating.

However, If that were truly the case, that would mean that you would be unbelievably, colossally bad at what you do. It is, of course, without question that you are very successful. But you are not a living legend, the very and most famous ever to exist in your industry, the most financially successful with the greatest reputation. You are not the subject of textbooks or college courses. There are not awards named after you, and you are, to my knowledge, not working with every Fortune 500 company out there. With an investment of 65,000 hours, a person of your talents most certainly would have risen to greater achievements.

Thankfully, I understand your gift for hyperbole, and thus realize that you would never actually criticize or demean the personal choices of others, and thus I know you were only being facetious with your statement.

As far as I'm concerned, I've got you all beat. Although you all have lovely families, my wife is the best, and she's given me the three most fantastic children in the world. Each and every minute that I spend with them is the equivalent of a uncut sheet of Boston Garters, plus two or three packs of 1990 Donruss.

That makes Bruce 57, and if he's been working 18-hour days, 7 days/week, 52 weeks/year since he was 25, he's worked for 209,664 hours.

My point, for those who missed it, is this:

There is absolutely no doubt that Bruce is a tremendous business success.

Bruce made a statement criticizing those who have chosen to have a family, and stated that he works 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

I believe he is exaggerating, and think that anybody who put in that much time would be successful beyond his wildest dreams, and famous the world over.

My post was not a criticism of Bruce, it was a statement on his use of hyperbole. Despite the fact that Bruce is very critical of a lot of people on this board, he has never criticized me, and thus I have no reason to criticize him.

After Bruci contacted me yesterday and I read their e-mail several times (sorry, it was like a car wreck: I just could not look away), I came to the conclusion that they "go off the board" to minimize the potential for embarrassment. Obviously, the fewer people who read the inaccuracies, butchering of the language, misspellings and misinformation, the fewer who can point out said mistakes.

Well, I have been privy to some private emails floating around. As I have told the Bruces, and others, I am very slow to get involved when there is blood on each hand in the issue. If someone berates someone else, even slightly, I won't take up for either. Even when the 2nd person is far more rude. What started out as a fun thread turned into something that really shouldn't even be on the board. I apologize to the original poster for that. I am about a half a breath from locking this one, and depending on how it goes from here, very well might do it. I really don't like locking threads though. I would like to ask each person to act maturely and get back to talking about cards. I actually thought it would be a fun thread when it started. ...regards
