Hey Guys and Girls,

This is a card that I am keeping from my 19th century stuff. That being said I might be working a trade out for something I want more. I know what I won't value it less than in the trade but what are thoughts on value in the open market? Just curious on the opinions.....I do love the card...

First let me say that SGC is First Class. The way they custom made that insert is impressive.

Valuewise, and rememeber I'm no 19th Century expert, I would peg it close to 25K.

I agree with Steve in regards to the custom black insert (although I would fully expect such individualized treatment for one of the hobby's most important pieces).

I would say 20-25k..but what the heck do I know I thought the Jumbo Wagner would go 1.1 at best....

Also, not to hi-jack but regarding SGC has anyone been noticing a film or streaky holders from these guys on their new holders? I've gotten like 40 cards over the past month and all of the new SGC's have a film or almost like someone wiped the inside of the holder with Windex and it streaked etc. anyone else finding this...it's very distracting.

Dave....that is about what I think too though if 2 people had to have it I think it could go higher......but keep the thoughts coming.....

John- Brian M and I were talking yesterday about the SGC holders. I just got some back from being reholdered due to some bumps and bruises....and one of them is slightly messed up again. I am not sure what is going on but they don't seem to be as durable as they used to be.......

Jodi- I will most likely be keeping this....and no matter what I will never catch up with my friend Scott's Wagner.....That is one great card...

If you do decide to part with it, I hope you get something that has long been at/near the top of your list. If I collected cards, I think I'd rather own the P&S over most any other card out there.

An Authentic one sold for about $29k in 2007 REA and another for a little under $23k in the May '08 Heritage Auction.

Well, If you are able to wait til the market turns in the right direction? Surely the Card would bring 40k +, sale or trade value.
Its Not an A, its a "4"! It should be worth at least $50k in a healthy market. Keep it til at least then,
imho ofcourse.....

Outstanding card. I agree with Barry's estimate. Maybe more? I also think Wonka is onto something with the "Jumbo" reference. Those borders are wide. You could sell it as a jumbo peck and snyder....

the most knowledgeable and professional auction firm.

We believe that there would be a significant variation in top line price
depending on the auctioneer and description.

We have carefully tracked rare high grade 19th century cards over
the past decade. It is has been our experience that the pieces
auctioned by Robert Edward Auctions realized a significantly
greater price than when similar (or the same pieces) were
auctioned by other auctioneers.

I can't remember if it was graded "authenic" or not at all by REA; it was handsomely sealed in Mylar on all four sides, wiih extra Mylar sticking out to hold.

You can see the back damage--which somene has PERHAPS tried to repair.
