Rudy Giuliani rooting for the Red Sox to win the series? WTF...flip-flop on politics all you want--that's business--but any Yankee fan rooting for the Botox in any capacity does not have the character to be president of anything...I am appalled.

Apparently Mattingly resigned from the Yankees organization as well. Does that mean he will no longer enjoy his status as "golden boy?" What a bad day for Donnie Baseball -- lost two jobs in one day.

Whoever is the next manager of the Bronx Bombers better have a thick skin and keep his bags packed because the Yankees days as a powerhouse and perennial playoff team are over. A-Rod skipping town and Posada and possibly Mariano in his wake, Clemens retiring, all the "stars" getting old, etc. One of these days all the talent coming up in the Blue Jays system will come together and perhaps the Orioles will actually make a few good free agent acquisitions. The Bosox look solid for years to come. In any event, I look for the wild card team to come from the AL Central for quite a while. The Indians are young and getting better. Despite the loss of Hunter, the Twins will be a force next year with a healthy Mauer and the return of "Future Cy" Liriano to the mound and at least one more year from Santana. The Tigers are going to be good again and the White Sox will be back. To me, the Yanks are going to revert back to the 1965-1975 Yanks soon...

An interesting side note is that it looks like Don Mattingly may join Joe Torre in LA as bench coach. Don's son Preston is in the Dodger's organization.

It is also interesting to note that Don will be deciding between a coaching job with the Dodgers and his status as Golden Boy of the Yankees. You can't have both. I think the coaching job pays a bit better but Donnie's not hurting for cash.
