Ted..I am also a lifelong Yankee fan. My earliest recollection is of Mazeroski's HR in the 1960 World Series when I was 8 yrs old. It's tough to understand the 1st round "knockouts" of the last 3 yrs..anyways |

I'm rooting for the Rockies because they have guts and fire and the Injuns to win it all because of my buds Jimi and Bryan from this Board who took me to a Cleveland game this summer and we sat in row 1 behind the dugout. I want them to experience the thrill I had in 1987 when the Twins finally won it all after years and years of heartbreak. |

red sox to win it all. i also wondered why petite did not start the 1st game of the playoffs. i think ol casey made a similar move in not starting whitey ford in game 1 of the 1960 world series.....maybe it is time for torre to go? |

gotta go with the team nobody roots for..the d'backs. An ace, solid defense up the middle, a solid bullpen and undeterred scrappiness....all the key elements to a winning WS team! |

Nobody but me thinks the Diamondbacks are going to win? I love watching these young guys play, plus I saw most of them play in the PCL down here in Tucson so I have to pull for them. It's Destiny. |

I live in the belly of Cardinal Country (freakin' Cardinals:( but my two favorite towns to play in are Durango, CO and Flagstaff, AZ, so this NLCS is pretty interesting to me. Probably pulling more for The Rockies because of Helton. Like to see the guy play in a series. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm rooting for the Tribe! I remember the days when Scott Bailes, Miguel Dilone, and Ernie Camacho were some of the better Tribe players. I remember (and who doesn't) when more people knew who Willie Mays Hays and "The Wild Thing", and of course....JOBU were than the real Indians! Might as well have been since they could probably play just as well. Let's not forget losing 105 games in 1991....or the 1987 Sports Illustrated jinx predicting the Tribe to win it all! |

Sox will win it all. They have both the pitching and hitting advantage over everyone, including the Indians. They will also have home field advantage after beating the Tribe. |

Beckett and Schilling are tough to beat, but the Rockies are younger and their line-up potent. They also have momentum going for them. The Rockies in six, but if the series goes 7, Beckett will be pitching and the Red Sox will win. Maybe...or maybe not. |

As a life long resident of Arizona I have to say go dbacks. Although I felt betrayed by them for not giving my hometown a minor league team. Yuma, AZ was the spring training site of the Padres for several years. I grew up getting autos of my favorite MLB players in my relatively small city. I once had the dilemma of going left to Tony Gwynn or going right for Ken Griffey Jr.. Got to meet several great players, the greatest being Jim Abbott. A true class act, I prefer character over performance. After the Padres left and AZ got a team I was sure baseball was back. Nope. Oh well. I hope to see them in another World Series. The 2001 series was one of the best I have seen. I almost felt bad for Yankee fans. Almost. |

The Rockies-Diamondbacks game ended at 2:45 AM eastern time. Once again, major league baseball is showcasing its best product at a time when the whole east coast is long asleep. I realize these are two western clubs but this is still really stupid marketing. |

Barry I agree, it was difficult even in the Mountain zone to stay awake for the whole game. The schedule seems to be governed by the desire to show the most popular teams (Red Sox, Yankees) in prime time. But maybe, as someone suggested earlier, if the networks would take a longer term view and promote some of the lesser-known teams during the season, these teams would develop more of a national fan base, and the coverage could be more equitably distributed in the future. But they probably have their marketing studies that convince them that would not be the case. Anyhow, here in Colorado we get good local coverage (Fox Sports Network, radio) of the regular season Rockies games so at least we get to see or hear them that way. |

Why does major league baseball feel that it is better to have games that end in the middle of the night rather than start one at 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon? It would finish up in prime time and a lot more people would watch it. Who cares when the first inning starts- I'd rather be watching the 9th inning at 9:00 in the evening than at 2:00 in the morning. I just don't understand their thinking. If they want to take advantage of prime time, they need to understand that the middle of the night is not the time most viewers watch television. |

When Coors field opened, every game seemed like the world series. This was a town long yearning for major league. Can't wait to see the home crowd for this, albeit on TV. When I lived there, they had a stupid purple mascot named Dinger. I don't even know if he's still around. |

Well, another play off game ended on the east coast a little before 2:00 AM. Can someone explain this idiocy? I guess major league baseball is trying to capture that all important 1:00 AM commercial slot. They show a complete disregard for their fans. |

And if major league baseball really wants to showcase their fall classic, they can start all the games at 10:00 eastern time, so that those heart-throbbing extra inning games can all conclude at three o'clock in the morning. |
