Another reason for the hit in price is that even though a 70th HR ball is significant, it's not the ball the set the record. There used to be a big rush to buy all the balls that led up to the record, but trend seems to have died off. If #71 came to market, I doubt it would fare any better. For that matter, #70 is no more important than #1. Neither set the record, they just contributed to it. |
