Ripken has all the qualifications. He provided offensive numbers at a position that historically lacked them--only Ernie Banks was comparable. He was an all-star 19 years, all in row. He won 2 MVP awards--that has to show some dominance. More than 3000 hits and 400 HRs, sprinkle in a couple gold gloves and a World Series ring, and I wonder what more you would want. |
