Ways to assemble a nice collection?

Leon you said that no ACC cataloged pre war type card set has been completed as far as you know. Now i would think sets like D355 Niagra or M131 Newsboys would qualify as type sets, kinda being sets within a set. But what is the exact definition of a "type set." Would D304 or D310 be considered type sets? Can a card be a "type card" just because its from an obscure set or does it have to be some kind of off shoot of a set, like a rare back, or advertisement?
