I won the high grade WG5 1913 National Game set and will be breaking it up for sale once it arrives. Anyone who wants to put a dibs on getting "first crack" at something can e-mail me. Once I get the cards and establish the pricing, I'll get back to those who contacted me first before opening it up for sale to the "general public". |

My bidding partner and I were nosed out very late on the E94 group of 4 in PSA 5 and 6, thought we had it won. On the flip side, I watched earlier in horror as my consigned lot was floundering but in the final day it began moving and there was a little bit of a feeding frenzy late so I did o.k. |

Maybe, like Frank said, to many auctions closing at once. Although the Jackson did bring over 100K. You could have bought several great sets for that. |

If the one you are thinking of was the one that was on ebay there certainly were some issues surrounding the private bidding. I too am a little surprised it didn't go for more. The one coming up in REA probably held it back (or the recent few that surfaced filled some needs so there were less high end bidders on this one). Did anyone notice the other T210?'s. Not flying quite as high at this moment as they were a month or two ago, again, since the several collectors that needed them already got them. No earthshaking news here...... |

I feel it remains to be seen. The card in the rea auction is much cleaner, if I had to take one it would be the rea. The PSA 5 ST Jackson may have only graded SGC 10, 20 at best with the back damage. Only my opinion. |

I think Hal is dead on. I saw the REA Jackson before it was slabbed and it has what I would consider to be a heavy crease. I thought the Mastro and REA Jacksons were dead even, two scarce cards with problems. The price of the Mastro Jackson was what I expected, maybe even a little on the high side. Corey's is I believe better than either of these and it went for about $90K. |

I made a mistake yesterday and overlooked that lot. The whole lot sold for a little over 3k. I would be willing to pay the high bidder on that $2500 just for the series 6 cards. I also have other series to possibly trade too. That would put someone in a position to profit significantly. Please contact me with interest. tonyetrade@yahoo.com thanks TOny |

re: 1933 Goudey #92 Gehrigs - there seems to be a PSA 8 of that card in EVERY catalog auction...the PSA 8 pop is 42!! Just too many, you won't have to wait long to get a crack at another one. The #160 is a completely different story. |

Jim, for a guy like you that collects may sets, it is probably easier for you to do that. You can time the market and stay away from the currently over-priced sets. However, for others that only collect a couple of sets, they are SOL! It's nice to be in your position. |

For several years buyers have outnumbered sellers and that is primarily why prices have gotten so high. Many collectors, some of them getting older (translation: baby boomers) may feel this is a pretty good time to cash in. As a result, we may be at the early stage of sellers putting a little too much material out at one time, causing prices to level off a bit. Ultimately, the market will seek its own level. But we are seeing certain sets, such as Old Judge, much cooler than they were just a year or two ago. It's pretty much Economics 101, nothing earth shattering here. |

For The Most part, #'s were exceedingly strong on pre war, and the E126 Caramels set mentioned, I acquired that, being that it is unique in style and player selection, this set was always an underated and rare issue. It also has one of the best Babe Ruth cards ever issued. Congratulations again to the Mastro Group, a well run auction house, and the best interactive web site. |

Barry- I agree totally with your post. Although there are a lot of younger prewar collectors out there, including many on this board, I would guess that in about 10+ years there could well be a flood of vintage material making its way back in to the hobby. I, too, have noticed that the Old Judge prices have begun to cool. Cards that were selling just 6 months ago for $300 are now obtainable for $200-225. |

I also saw the REA Jackson before it was slabbed. I own it. The crease does not break the surface. This can be seen in the greatly enlarged full page scan that REA placed in the front of their catalog. The scan was made before slabbing. The crease is only apparent in certain angles of light. With great respect for Jay's opinion, I would consider this kind of creasing to be minor. I believe also that SGC gave no special weight to the crease. |

Seedy--With all due respect, I saw the Jackson at the Ft Washington show before it was slabbed. You didn't need to rotate it in the light to see the crease; it was very obvious. I was talking to Dave Foreman and our discussion was over whether it would get a 2 or a 3. It's a nice card but one with faults, just like the last several that have surfaced. None of these is even close to the one Trevor posted an image of a while back. Good luck with your consignments. |
