I agree Barry. Not only does it not look like a dag, if it is original to that mat and case, it is not an early dag. That thin brass mat and design is typical of the 1860's. Dag mats were thick and very plain and are very different. The only thing that throws me is that I think I know the seller and he certainly knows the difference. Maybe it's not who I think or maybe the auction house messed up??? |
