Without checking the pop reports(if you have access to those),name the 5 prewar(through 1941) sets in order that have had the most cards graded by PSA. |

I see that the usual suspects, instead of ignoring the thread and not posting, have shown their true colors by belittling the thread instead. |

Yeah, without looking, I would have also guessed 41 Playball. I personally think the 34 Goudey set is overatted and the 41 Playball is underatted. |

would these #'s correspond to the sets that had the largest production?? lots of t206's and 33 goudey's seem to have been printed.it seems as if by 1934 the goudey production was slashed and slashed again in 1935.smaller sets but a lot less cards seem to be around today? anybody have any guesses on production #'s? |

David, are you actually loooking to start another incident? The only person that didn't respond with an answer was Joe. Big deal. Joe is a known plasic hater, he's allowed to post his opinion too. No one else responded as such, so who are these "usual suspects" you are talking about? Don't expect a response from me either. This thread, by it's topic is dead and I won't drag out to help you start another battle. I was civil, why couldn't you be civil? |

Those sets in the top four are certainly no surprise. And the t206 set "had to be" #1 for reasons we all know. As Jay has pointed out in other threads, there are some vintage cards rarer, and some actually much rarer than the t206 Wagner, yet the t206 Wagner is to most collectors considered the "holy grail" of card collecting. Perhaps if the story behind the Wagner card would have happened in a much less popular set, this card probably wouldn't have grown to become the most famous baseball card. |

You are more than welcome to speak your mind as long as we understand the Forum FAQ's. I am just trying to keep a little peace and get back to talking about cards. We have had numerous threads on "plastic" the last few days but if that's what ya'll want to talk about go for it...as long as it pertains to Pre-WWII baseball cards then I can't really say anything (and as long as it doesn't get too out of control) about it. regards |

Although I don't believe it is reflected in their respective pop. reports anymore, SGC started grading oversized cards (both vintage and otherwise) before PSA and for quite some time had a much higher pop # than PSA for T201, T202, Fatimas (both team and individual) as well as Exhibits.. |

The difficulty with OJs is that the grading services will generally get the player's name correct (most of the time) but they usually don't identify the pose. There may be several poses of one player but the pop reports will not accurately reflect which N172 cards have actually been graded. They can indicate how many cards of a player have been graded but they don't provide the correct year (unless it was from 1887), team or pose type (catalog number). Unless they (grading services) get one of those Brit catalogs they'll never have a chance of properly providing accurate data for OJs. Even if they did start following stricter labeling guidelines there would be so many inaccurately labeled OJs out there that the pop reports would always be a bit off. |
