Hi everyone. I have an opportunity to buy some 1887 Old Judge cards, but I do not have a clue as to how to determine if they are authentic or not? Could someone with experince with these cards give me some tips as to what to look for. I get to see these cards in person so it's not like an ebay auction. What is the going rate for these cards and the HOF's that I would need to look for in this set? I appreciate the feedback. |

All known reprints of N172 cards have a disinct dot pattern (usually multi-color dots but can also be black and white) under strong magnification. Examine the image of the player to see if there are dots. |

Wow, that's a pretty nice lot of them. What can you tell us about them? Are they in a scrap book? Did the person mention any of the players names? |

I really don't know anything about them yet. The guy that is trying to sell the cards walked into my mom's fea market wanting to buy games used cards and told him that I might have some to sell him and he happened to mention that he had the Old Judges that he would like to sell. So I got a phone number and am going to give him a call when I get enough info on the Old Judges that I feel comfortable to look at them and know what to look for. I am thinking that I might just buy 1 of them and send it off for grading to make sure it's o.k. and then try to cut a deal on the rest of the cards. |

as many as anybody, and has collected them for years. Do e-mail him. He'll send scans and everything. And give good advice, and may need some (if they're real) that you don't want...all sorts of good things. |

If you can't tell if they're real or not after getting Jay's opinion, mail the cards to me. If I mail them back they were reprints or recreations, if I offer you $5 each for them, they're real. |
