My guess would be Ed Willett.

Willett was a righty. I think it's either Claude Rossman or Sam Crawford. I have seen plenty of Crawford's photos that show a strong resemblance, but I have only found a few of Rossman and they both look somewhat alike.

I suppose it could be a young Crawford. I thought Willett's eyebrows were a match, but like you said Dan, he's a righty so throw that idea out. From the few pics of Rossman I've seen, I'd say the player looks more like Crawford than Rossman.

Go to the link below and look at the picture of Sam Crawford near the top of the page. Notice how the right collar in both pictures is up near his mouth. How many people would wear their collar in the same place?

That picture on that page confirms that this is Crawford.

Thanks folks. I had thought when I bid on this that it may be Crawford. The underbidder emailed me after the sale to tell me he believed it to be Crawford, but I just wasn't sure.

I sure would like to believe that it's Crawford, but I don't know.
