Some of the old time collectors choose not to get their cards slabbed. Since they are not selling, they are free to enjoy their rare cards as they wish. Certainly if the time came to sell, they would be advised to have their rare cards graded. Grading is still a relatively recent phenomenon, having gotten popular in the last five years or so. Not everyone, including myself, is smitten with it. It doesn't take away from any PSA Wagner, but it's pointless to assume that if a card isn't graded something is wrong with it. That's a typical reaction if you see an expensive ungraded card in an auction catalog; but in someone's private collection, it's as the owner chooses. The population report is only that; an accounting of cards submitted, not a reflection of all known examples. |
