Default Since when...

Posted By: robert a

We've been chatting a little lately on the board about m116 and how hot it's been compared to years ago.

I distinctly remember thinking "wow, these are cheaper than t206."
They still are...sometimes.
The hall of fame players are now officially rediculous. Hall of famers in excellent condition used to be cheaper than good t206 hall of fame players.
The common commons from m116 can be had for cheap in vg-ex condition.
Blue Backgrounds have always been hot.

The thing that's really interesting about this set is that it's harder to find these guys in poor/fair/good condition than it is in excellent condition. (Because of the fact that they were issued separately from a product rather than being inserted into something. Collectors wanted to send away for them, therefore keeping them in great condition. On the other hand, with an issue like t206, someone who puffs cigs might have just thrown the card on the ground for someone else to pick it up.)

If more collectors who are simply looking for a type card were aware of the fact that these babies are easy to find in great condition, maybe they wouldn't get so darn excited and jack up the price so much.

Jay: I think there's a lot to be excited about concerning the t209 set once you crawl inside of it...not to mention the color set.
By the way, can anyone post a scan of a M-116 collector envelope????
