I've been collecting since the 1970s and I'm not familiar with any "old school" of grading. There is no doubt that there has been an increase in demand for high grade cards. There has also been the addition of several new grades at the high end to accomodate this demand. It used to be that the next grade after Ex was Mt. Obviously, that's no longer the case. But I don't think the standards for each grade have changed. A card graded Fair, Good, or Very Good in 1973 should grade the same today. |
