Hello, I have been reading this forum for about a week now, and I can't seem to get enough. I've read about 100 threads in their entirety! I just registered last night, and wanted to introduce myself instead of lurking around. I probaby won't post all that often as my collection, knowledge, and budget are all very limited - however I am very interested in pursuing a more avid vintage collecting hobby. I am a young buck in comparison to the majority of you, but at 23 I feel I have plenty of time to catch up. 10+ years ago I was the stereotypical kid collector on my parents budget, and unfortunately I hocked all of my goodies to friends and family growing up so I've had to start fresh. |

I guess I should have done a little research before I posted that one. I will say that collecting vintage baseball was the last thing on my mind when I was 16 |

I just thought about something, am I even in the right place!?. Are my 50,60,70's cards even considered vintage by anyone here? I don't yet own anything pre 1951. |

I'll still visit anyway because I think this is all very interesting, just have to find another place to ask my vintage-wannabe card questions. Sorry to waste everyones time. I of course meant the 1950, 60, 70's. |

To me cards from the 50's are vintage as most of my collection consist of very early 1950's cards. Trae - if you have specific questions regarding 50's cards you can e-mail me and I can answer what I can. I do not follow abstract items such as post and meat issues but when it comes to early topps and bowman and can answer most things. Although, now that I say that you will ask a question that I cannot answer |

I'm not sure how I know this, but I believe the etymology of the term goes back to pre-civil war America, and was used in reference to African slaves who bore the brunt of many "snaps of the whip". Sorry for the downer boys. |

I had an aunt who each year celebrated her 29th birthday. She decided she'd finally turn 30 when her youngest granddaughter turned 30. Six years later, the granddaughter is 36 and my aunt is 30. |

Ok, I am 37 and still feel young. Bought my first tobacco card, a T206 red back Cobb when I was 13. Actually, I traded half of my collection and several weeks allowance for it. I always loved reading about the early heros, even when I was young(er). |
