Would like some input on the players involved in the bonehead play by Fred Merkle in 1908. I know Evers made the put out, but am interested in the pitcher and fielder involved. |

Bridwell got the single scoring Moose McCormick. Hofman in center fielded the ball and threw it to Evers. It went wild and was caught by iron man McGinnity who was coaching third. Chance and other Cubs grabbed McGinnity who being over powered, threw the ball in to the stands. Steinfeldt and Tinker went in to the stands, got the ball, Tinker threw it to Evers who stepped on second base. |
