I posted this in the pick up thread, but was wondering if anyone could help me with info on this. Sheet music is certainly not my normal realm of collecting, so I am not up to speed on such things. I have tried to find this particular one, but have found nothing. Does anyone here collect sheet music? Can anyone inform me of any sites that have info. Do you think its authentic? Sales or value? |

The cover graphics are pretty much all a piece of sheet music has going for it. Without a dazzling illustration, it generally isn't too valuable. |

It may be true that early ones tend to be plainer, but some 1860s-70s baseball music sheets have pictures on the front. |

I'm a bit surprised I've never come across another copy of this, given the popularity of Feller. I wonder whether the "Sole selling agents" notation at the bottom means one could buy this sheet music only at Grossman Music, leading to its apparent scarcity? Or it could be just a coincidence that I've not seen another one. (The sheet music obviously is a bit too big for my scanner.) |

I did find a copy of the "Base Ball Waltz" here on the Library of Congress web site. If you notice though, it is not exactly the same as mine... |

Shawn- there are four full color baseball sheet musics from the 1860's that are among the finest color prints of the 19th century game. They are: |

In the old days, publishers registered book and music sheet copyrights with the Library of Congress, and sent the LOC copies of the publications. No doubt, the LOC has quite an accumulation of interesting books, sheet music, etc. |
