This was originally part of a set of postcards that came in a green envelope. I assume these were sold as souvenirs at the HOD. This is the only one I own, however. Any clue as to date/value? The number 31 appears at the bottom--am I correct to assume 1931? Any help would be appreciated. I've had this one for years and know nothing about it. |

The Eastman Kodak stampbox would mean it was made 1950 or after. |

I'm curious as to why, if the PC was manufactured post-1950, there is no zone code in the address as displayed on the verso. It would be more forgivable if the HOD were in a town smaller than Benton Harbor. Then again, when I recall my days of collecting vintage ephemera, finding a zone code on such items was kind of a toss-up around 1950. |

The five digit zip code was introduced in 1962, and I would assume they would have included this zip code if the pc was modern. Before then there was a 2 digit zip code, though they didn't always include it in the earlier days. I don't know how the 2 digit zip code worked, but a small town like Benton Harbor may not have had one. |

I believe this postcard is probably right at about 1950. The House of David was still barnstorming in 1950 usually playing against Negro League All Star teams. In 1953 their "leader" died and I think everything kind of fell apart for the HOD...it's still around, but I don't think they've fielded a baseball team since the early 1950s. |

That particular photo paper was produced from 1930-1950 according to the EKC stamp block ... if that helps. |
