The Walter Johnson card in the E91C set is actually the same artwork that was used for the Rube Waddell card in the E91A set, and used for Krause of the Athletics in the E91B series. Having researched this set versus photos of the players, the artwork on this card is actually a fairly decent depiction of Rube Waddell (I don't have one of these cards in front of me to confirm this, but my memory says so, so I won't argue with it). Any card in the E91C set (like the Walter Johnson) will not have artwork that is based on the player's likeness. They may have used the Waddell artwork for Johnson because it perhaps looked somewhat like the Big Train. |
