David is right, it's the first in a long, long time. The only previous book-length biography of Anson is Cap's own book, "A Ball Player's Career," published in 1900. Half of that book is about Spalding's world tour, with <sarcasm>thrilling, suspenseful</sarcasm> chapters on visiting the Pyramids and socializing on the boat. |
