I clicked on my link for pre-1950 vintage cards and got a category called "cards 1940-1949." A new one. I didn't think much about it since all the T and E cards seemed to be there, but got worried later in the day when I posted some T207s and an E90-1 and none ever appeared. In backtracking, I found them in the category "cards pre-1930." There are 4 or 5 times as many 1890-1920 cards in the 1940-1949 area as in the pre-1930 area so I am assuming that a lot of collectors (and sellers) are using the old like, like I was. |

Bob, I had a small group lot of 33-4 Goudeys in the regular Pre-1950 category before the change. When they switched it, my lot was autmatically put in the 40-9 category. As there were no bids, I ended the auction and decided I would relist when things as settled. |

too bad eBay lacks the common sense and/or intelligence to just ask a few dealers and collectors what they think shoudl be the catagories. No knowledgable collector in his right mind would have put the dividing point at 1950. with any luck we will get 1930-1945, and pre 1930. In my wildest dreams it would be 1930-45, 1920-29, pre 1920 and 19th century. |

I mean, a category for australian football cards (no offense, Ozzies) which has like 150 entries but no category for boxing cards, which average 1,500-2,000 entries per week divided between tobacco cards, other sports cards and boxing memorabilia. And why no sports postcard listing in the sports category? |

I needed to bring this subject back for a couple of opinions. Since the Gods at Ebay decided to change the dates of the categories of our little gems I have a question. Do ya'll think that the auctions that were running at the time of the change, that are pre-'40 and are now in the '40-'49 category, will get good exposure as they are running now. I am almost tempted to end my darn Kalamazoo auction that is in the 40's section to get it where it needs to be. Since I already ended it once before, for other reasons, I hesitate......it is really confusing as of right now for the ongoing auctions.....otherwise, I think I might really like this new classification scheme.....there are almost no cards I still need, or want, that are post 1930.....so in the long run I will like how it is now set up...till the a**holes change it again.... |

My good friend Scott B. just clued me in that I could change categories mid-stream....so Mr Lyons is now in the pre-30's category.......not that it will go too much higher, although at the level it is at now even a dealer could make a profit on it |

I was planning to auction about 200 items, both in the vintage cards and baseball memorabilia categories, but with the ebay shake-up, I'm holding off. I never thought I would get so bored with ebay that I would go days without looking at listings, but I'm there. |

I was planning to auction in "waves", with a Matty or two possibly going up toward the end, depending on how the earlier auctions go. I'm in "wait and see" mode right now - I'll start selling and buying again when ebay picks up. |

Still down to the awful eight to complete the set and holding, although I did pick up a Tyler with a tiny hole punch as a filler last week in an auction. The sad thing was the same seller sold a slightly weaker card but with no punch for the same price at Ft. Washington <sigh> Same old story.... |

...I won't fly back to Seattle until Oct 7, and I won't see my LoanRanger e-mail until then. I'm on my (back-up) AOL account now. |
