Good show. Yeah prices are high right now but guys are getting it, I guess. As a mostly Red Sox collector it would probably benefit me to go to a show in a different region of the country. Some prices are still laughably high. The half price guy is an example. Everything at his table is half of sticker. So if you want that 1952 Bowman Gil Hodges in a SGC 3.5 it will only cost you half of that $400 sticker price (smh).

Nice place for post war set builders. Smaller stuff can be had in bulk and you do ok by avoiding shipping costs. I do wonder what happens before the doors open at shows like this. Dealers and insiders sweep the floor, I’m guessing, and anything priced too low gets snarfed up. Probably best to go early or late Sunday where I suspect more deals get made. But I had Halloween and family Friday and NFL Sunday.

And so I was there Saturday and it was crowded by not insanely so. Hobby seems healthy. Interesting that you see a ton of older slabs at this show. Given that PSA is tougher then it used to be you’ve got a lot of dealers holding those old slabs with lower standards and holding out for market comps or higher on 8 digit flips that start with 0 or 1. Sometimes you can find nice cards for the grade in these old slabs but there’s a lot of faded merch that has likely sat in display cases show after show and year after year. This is very common with pre war stuff in particular.
