Well Spalding has all types of sports equipment so not just gloves. I don’t think Brooks used anything else besides Rawlings mitts during his playing days (even though he was known for using other players gloves). It’s possible he used a Spalding glove in the old timers games or some other related Spalding equipment. I do know there were Spalding endorsed Brooks gloves.

Default Brooks Robinson Spalding

Hi, Mark. I am following all your comments and agree. I recall seeing something with Brooks and Spalding in past. He is a Rawlings man for sure.

Default Orioles

I know these were made for other teams. Here’s an O’s example.

Default Quiet on the Brooks page…Big 8 Rawlings Box

Posted this on FB and thought to add here. In 1964 Rawlings marketed and sold the Big 8 Glove, which came in the below box. Not perfect, but it is 60 years old. This box is very rare. This box has been on my list for years. What I did not know, the 4 player panel comes on both sides. Like the name, there are 8 players on the box. Brooks Robinson anchors the one 4 player panel and Mickey Mantle the other one. PSA grades both the individual hand cut card and the 4 player panels. I have the Brooks Robinson panel graded and the hand cut card. Additionally, Rawlings featured the players on a larger photo to include a Brooks and Mantle variation and Boyer variation. Wanted to share a picture of this amazing box!

today marks the 48th anniversary of Brooks retiring as an active player. He was on the roster (playing infrequently) however Rick Dempsey was coming off the DL and the club needed a roster spot (the announcement was made pregame and the Metropolitan Stadium crowd gave him a standing ovation)

Default Sad Day

Great photo! - I remember learning of his retiring as an active player that day in 1977. As a 9 year old kid, hearing my favorite player retired made me cry. I still have several scrapbook pages filled with newspaper reports about his retirement from the next day.

Great photo! I remember when Brooks retired and I was upset about the news. Of course we all knew it couldn’t last forever.
