How many chances should players like Dale Murphy and Steve Garvey get? I kinda get tired of seeing their names show up on the ballot.

Candy Jim Taylor won the most games managing in the Negro Leagues, and Vic Harris has the best winning percentage among Negro and MLB managers. He won 7 pennants and 1 WS in 11 years as manager. When compared with their Negro League counterparts, both Taylor and Harris are incredibly deserving of being elected, and yet neither are in the HOF.

It is incredibly unfair of the HOF to lump them in "with everyone else" when they have two Eras Committees specifically dedicated to players and others who played or were involved in the game from 1980 to the present.

Harris and Taylor find themselves competing against players, managers, pioneers, umpires, and executives who had anything to do with the game in the last 156 years. That is a lot tougher competition than competing only against players who have played in the last 45 years. The Classic Baseball Committee needs to be further subdivided to make competition fairer. As long as the Classic Baseball Committee only considers one 'catch all' group, everyone in that group is at a disadvantage.

The next time the Classic Baseball Committee votes in 2027, two names likely to be on the ballot are Pete Rose and Joe Jackson (and personally I hope both are voted in) but they are going to take ballot spots and votes away from other deserving players.
