I made the 3 1/2 hour drive over this morning for the noon opening and I stayed till 3.45 after finding some nice signed vintage cards, so it was worth the trip. I had last been to Strongsville about 15 years ago and it was mostly what I expected, except I thought it was supposed to be a vintage only show? I was really surprised to see a fair amount of modern 'shiny' stuff in several cases and I was even more surprised to see one dealer in the middle of the rink with a couple showcases full of only Pokemon. WTF? How did this guy get a table at this show?

Anyways, a good day overall and an easy drive both ways. Here's a couple of my pickups.

Dealers are allowed to bring a bit of new stuff, but I would say something to the promoters if someone is here with just modern, whether it's Pokemon or sports. That is against what we agree to as dealers.

In the 1990s when the first attempt at vintage shows took place, the standard rule was you could bring some newer cards within reason but with these caveats

1) Everything in the showcases had to be vintage

2) No modern unopened could be available

3) There was not as many of sets featuring vintage players as there are today but you could bring in modern cards of vintage players in sets like the 1990's Topps Archives set.
