ABC produced this screen printed pennant, too. You can see the same fat tassels and font. My screened version doesn't have a tag, but Bocca's does. I'm wondering if ABC maybe outsourced this for screen printing...it seems to me pennant makers would be set up for one production method (screened vs. sewn) or another. Can we think of companies that did both?

Long time reader, first time poster. Appreciate all of the information and displays of personal collections. Makes me want to finally get mine out of storage and onto my walls to be enjoyed.

Attached are a couple of recent pick ups. Nothing too special or rare, but will go nicely with my Cardinal's collection.

The collegiate pennant makers, namely Chicago Pennant Co. and Collegiate Mfg. Co. of Ames, IA, both offered screen printed (flocked) pennants and sewed letters through the 1970s. This is because their merch was generally sold in book stores and were considered premium items.

So some people liked that vintage look from the turn of the century and were willing to pay for it, decades later.

Nice work Kyle. Looks like you took the 65 Twins / Dodgers to sample from. I’ve always liked that style.

Yup, that's right. It's heavily influenced by the color scheme and graphics of WGN's 1965 Al champs (Twins) pennant, below. I made the year "2024" a bit bigger and then relocated it closer to the head-end.

Also, this year's world series featured a 26-man roster. To accommodate the extra name, I had to drop the manager's name off the scroll.

The Day-Glo colors were hand painted using watercolors.

Thanks to Bocca for making this available to me. He found himself an upgrade, which I hope we'll see soon. I'm not really a "condition guy" to the extent some of you are, but the condition of this gave me pause. Bocca thinks, and I agree, it may have been stored for a long time under a black pennant. In the end, I bought it because there have only been three of these seen. The more common (but by no means common) version has no white paint. These are one of only two varieties of Giants pennants which show Seals Stadium (1958-59).

Question for Kyle - wouldn't the white paint necessitate an entirely different screen than the all black graphics? The all black I've shown is the "fat font." I also have one with the same font as my new acquisition.

Question for you other guys - any cleaning tips at all? I tried a few things. I dipped the tip in some mild soapy water and the water immediately turned orange. When I blotted it on a white towel, it left an orange triangle. I think I'm gonna have to live with it.

Yes, this two-color variant would have required two screens--one per color. You could use the black ink screen for the all black variant; but, you'd have to "unblock" the portions of the stencil where the white would've gone.

I love this pennant. It's by Trench; and yet it's so different from the Dodgers/Coliseum pennant, from the same era.

Because the felt was orange, it was light enough to print the stadium graphics directly over the felt, sans white underbase. You couldn't do this if the felt was any darker or else the black ink detail would have no contrast.
