If I didn’t live in Oregon (no sales tax), and I was buying a big piece with a fat sales tax of 5 figures, then I would definitely be tempted.

Maybe that's why I don't have enough money to buy an item with 5 figure sales tax...

And evade the use tax?

Haven’t looked at this very closely, since it’s not relevant to me. But for most states, if you keep it in the vault for long enough, my recollection is that the use tax doesn’t apply.
I want to say that CA is like 90 days. Trust me, if it were up to me, I’d tax all of those to death, and go after vault withdrawals for use tax. That way, I have a bidding advantage with zero sales tax in my state.

From a purely collector standpoint I have a hard time with the vault. If you send your long held collection there for safe keeping, I guess I could see that. But I'm not sure I'd want to send a card I just bought to the vault and never actually possess it, and we talk all the time about slabbing and how it creates space between the card and yourself. The vault only seems to add to that sentiment.

I was in your situation last month. It took Goldin 1 week after I paid for my item to hand deliver it to the vault. Then approximately 10 business days (2 weeks) before it was officially logged in the vault. Stay patient, it will pop up.

Nope, I see it as a work around for sales tax, and would just like to have my card for the whatever dollars I've already figured into the final bid.
