Regression to childhood
I just picked up this ticket, signed by Bucky Dent and Mike Torrez. It is one I had been after a little while.
I remember it well. My father took off work early to pick me up after school. We went home and watched this game, my parents and I. We were ecstatic as we watched Bucky's homer sail over the wall. It was a highlight of my childhood because it was the only time I can remember that my father left work early, and we shared a special moment, the whole family. It is one I will never forget. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my parents, whom I miss dearly, and I remember that day fondly.
I find that as I age, I am collecting, more and more, cards, photos, and tickets that remind me of my youth. In other words, I'm regressing. Freud would have a field day, I'm sure, but it just reminds of simpler times, when life was not nearly as complex. Baseball was my main focus. Somehow, the world was a less scary place.
Does anyone else find himself/herself collecting items that are reminders of a simpler bygone era?
