Have signed cuts of MLB players ever sold for this high before? Maybe Shoeless Joe or Christy Mathewson?
I was astonished by the prices for Jimmy Collins and Joe Kelley. I know they are rare, but they're not 1-of-1s. Both Collins and Kelley lived to 1943. We're not talking about Addie Joss here. Maybe people buying into the notion that an ink signature can be graded on a 10-point scale? Would love to hear your thoughts. Jimmy Collins $34,800 ![]() https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=167481 Joe Kelley $24,600 ![]() https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=167474

I have been surprised how many younger folks are living here in Hawaii who sould various companies they owned for 50,000,000+ or made a killing in bitcoin or the market and are retired at 40. Maybe they are taking up HOF collecting? Hope not since I do not fit that category

I've held a stack of handwritten Joe Kelley letters two inches thick. They'll never see the light of day, though. They're in Cooperstown. You think that sounds silly? I also examined a stack of Ned Hanlon letters that rivaled the thickness of a fairly large city's white pages.
Those prices feel absurd. Collins is admittedly quite rare. Although not the easiest, Kelley seems common by comparison. (And I'm just considering what is known to exist in collectors' hands, not anything in institutions.) Last edited by BillyCoxDodgers3B; 01-22-2024 at 02:03 PM. |

Impressive prices realized especially on the Kelley. Have sold several over the years and at least a few Yankees players contracts that Kelley would sign as witness. Kelley scouted for the Yankees in 1915 and 1916. So while tough not particularly rare
