Some possible explanations for the top bid being that high:

Two newbies are bidding strong because they heard centering was super-important
The card was actually used by Picasso to create a sketch
It's the prototype for a Topps Project 2024 card
1953 Topps Mantles are the new T206 Evans...money is no object
There's a little shilling going on
