My pre-war collection is only Cubs and it's been as important as any book about the team from the era for me...
My collection is broadly stars and notables, so it's full of obvious and not-so-obvious cards. Diving into the stats to "discover" or investigate a player leads to diving into the story of the player. It occasionally leads into a deep dive because they were more important to the team than I realized, their full stories mostly not discussed too much. It's nice to get something out of the cards aside from their value. |
