Possibility--photo was taken at Sportsman Park
The 1944 World Series was an all-St. Louis World Series, matching the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Browns at Sportsman's Park. Last edited by Directly; 06-30-2023 at 06:08 PM. |

Reds Rookie year was 1945. Didn't play in 1944. Not sure what the browns have to do with it? Both teams played at sportsmans park.

The Cardinals "rented" Sportsmans from the Browns. The Cardinals bought the park for $800k at the beginning of the 53 season with the agreement to reverse the arrangement and lease back to the Browns. However, the Browns would only see one more season in St. Louis before moving to Baltimore.

I don't know when the Premium was released. However, when the photo was taken for the this Premium.... I can slightly help!
Jersey & Billboard ads are the key. As you mention jersey elimination would be kinda tough. 1950 would be the only "1950s" and don't believe that's it. So...thinking it's late 1940's Based on the Alphen Brau "COLD", "Sealy" & Philip Morris ad...shown I think the answer maybe 1947. I don't know if this user has the correct year or not, but at least you can more of the Falstaff ad instead of just the bottom to help pin point. https://www.flickr.com/photos/crawfordbrian/38228993034 Last edited by GoCubsGo32; 07-04-2023 at 07:49 AM. |
