Nice to see prices coming down a little.

Funny enough, it looks like other PSA 8s have sold for as much as $2M. Although during 2021 they have been as low as $800k.

I'm sure that the centering pedants will be quick to let you know that this one has sketchy centering, and is crazy tilted. If nothing else, it's almost certainly an early cert, so it might be more like a 6 or a 7 if it was graded today.

Having said that, it sure looks nice to me, and looks like it deserves the 8 grade.

In similar news from the same auction, a SGC 9 1953 Mays sold for "just" $360k with the juice, here:

It had a pre-auction estimate of $800k+, so the final price seems pretty weak by comparison. I will admit that the chipping on the lower right border scared me a bit, so I didn't ever seriously consider chasing this one. That and I figured it would probably reach $800k as soon as I started bidding on it.

Considering that a PSA 8 of this card sold for ~$180k just a few months ago, I was sure that this SGC 9 would go for a lot more than $360k.
