I just ran across this post now because I’ve started collecting T213s again. As a few of you know, I was one of the people involved in ‘The Southern Find’ back in the mid to late 80’s. I was able to end up with an entire set of type 3s including 3 or 4 of all the HOFers and a nearly complete set of type 2s. The cards were all VG+ or better with most around Ex. I sold all the type 2s to move the cash to complying other sets like M116 and T207. A few years later I sold my complete set of type 3s to Bill Mastro in EX (including the first ever addition to the set, can’t remember the player but Lew Lipsett would not believe me until I faxed him a copy of the front and back lol). I sold them for peanuts when I see what 3s are selling for these days. Luckily I held on to the 3 Cobb bat off OPs. I ended up trading one for a beautiful high grade E94 Wagner and sold one to a guy on Net 54 and put one in my safe. I used to cringe every time my type 3s would pop up in Mastro/Legenday or REA auctions through the years. I’ve always had a up strong pull to the T213s so now I am going for the type 2 set again and picking
Up type 3s here and there. Sorry for the long story.

Sounds good, TBOB. Enjoy the T213 chase again. I've had fun collecting T213's. I remember reading about that find on here years ago.

I never did learn whose collection that was in REA. They had a nice one, and almost found all 185 cards.

Only 3 left to go, Sean, thanks. From that Collect auction of 550 cards, the only one they had that I didn't already have was a very low grade Baker NY. I was able to get it cheap, but still need to upgrade some cards like the Baker NY and Thomas Phila.

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

I ran across this thread again. It's amazing how much the prices for the T213-2 set have climbed in value just over the last 2 years. I still can't believe I somehow missed this auction from November 2022 and shake my head over how low the prices were compared to what the cards in this scarce set sell for in February 2025. I know that because of the basically same artwork as the much more prevalent T206s and the fact the T213-2s have a glossy front which makes them condition sensitive, that the demand is not nearly as strong for these cards but the chase is everything. The scarce to rare team variations make it a maddening set to complete.
