I could start a whole new tread, but I won’t….if I did, it would be titled “So glad I don’t collect cards”….I just scrolled through a 430 page catalog….380 pages of cards, some Pokemon and not one pennant. Literally ANY card can be had if you’ve got the $$$. Meanwhile, pennants and the other stuff I like can only be found through diligence, networking and good luck. I guess I’m saving a lot of money.

A lot of the rare/good ones have all but dried up. As an example, you never see oversized teens pennants anymore (on eBay, catalog auctions, or anywhere else).
Much of the “drought” may be that auction houses are more aggressively pursuing cards these days. They are easier to store, easier to ship and are realizing crazy prices. Makes little sense, given that most anything aside from a Wagner or Plank can readily be found any day of the week. Collecting memorabilia is much harder work and requires lots of luck these days. Huggins & Scott always has nice pennants (last night being no exception), but the “Big Boys” in the hobby have been pretty pathetic. |

Hey Mark - remember Oregon Trail? Who were those guys? I used to love seeing the oddball memorabilia in their auctions.

Mastro bought the company from Scott Jaimet, and renamed it Mastro-West. They were able to maintain the quality offerings, but I think it only lasted for one or two auctions before it was dissolved. I wish there was a time machine that could take us back to the early 2000s. The great stuff was readily available and there was so much eye candy, you really had to prioritize what you planned to pursue. So different from today, where you hope and pray there's just one or two memorabilia items to go after, while avoiding a "bloodbath". Better days! ![]() Last edited by perezfan; 12-09-2022 at 07:30 PM. |

Hi Guys:
I am not a pennant collector per se but I was watching this pennant in a small auction. I collect Richie Ashburn stuff and he was listed on it, so I figured I would try to pick it up. It went for over $600!! Has anyone seen this before? Is it super rare or something for it to go for that price or is it a $2000 pennant and some guy got a bargain?
