Not TV but Crazylegs Hirsch was in Zero Hour! as a pilot and his appearance was directly parodied in Airplane! by Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Joe Namath had his own show in 1969, With Ali , Dave Debusshere, Don Clendennon, Emerson Boozer and Howard Cosell.

And Fred Dryer was the lead in Hunter. Not sure if that was mentioned yet.

Tony Lema won The Open Championship in 1964 and appeared in an episode of "Hazel" in January 1965. Sadly, he died when his plane crashed on a golf course in Lansing, Michigan in 1966.
