The other is my old friend Lonny Frey, who nearly made it to 100. Such a great guy.

It's a meal receipt. I don't seem to recall that he had any association with the Mets. Very cool to learn that. I visited him a few times and this part of his life never came up in all those hours of conversation. Thanks for sharing.

According to his SABR biography, Lonny had no interest in scouting or continuing on in baseball post-retirement, so it's a bit of a mystery what association he would have had with the Mets! He also predated the existence of that club by a longshot, so being a guest of the club for some sort of event makes very little sense considering there was no history between them of which I am aware. Anyone out there care to figure this out? Maybe he was a guest spring training instructor. Who knows?
