The rookie autographed two-color patch card of Vladimir Putin has already gone up 20X!

Now, after this morning's invasion by Russia of independent and democratically elected Ukraine, I hope many will see that card collecting is just a nice hobby. The monetization and commercialization has seriously dented the spirit of the hobby and allowed obscene fraudsters to operate freely. I speak as someone whose first pack purchase was a '51 Bowman.

"The monetization and commercialization has seriously dented the spirit of the hobby and allowed obscene fraudsters to operate freely."

But quintessentially American: find something fun and interesting, commercialize and monetize it, screw it up.

Right on. And the hobby problems themselves are all pretty trivial. Not feeling too hopeful at the moment, but still hoping Russia withdraws soon without further bloodshed.

Question: If Russia was running an auction and had a chase card from a prewar set most of us needed...

*WWIV

Not sure how 40 years of war in the Middle East involving many, MANY countries (including the same countries tying themselves up in this Ukrainian conflict) is not considered WWIII.

I'd rather have tangible assets than the USD. Cards, silver, gold, land, etc.

Thoughts and prayers with the innocent people of Ukraine; their government may be a different story.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Ukrainians too, though 'Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition' might be more in line with their needs.

Maybe, Adam, but only if it's the 1925 Holland Creameries card of Roger Peckinpaugh.

I would buy it for cheap and turn a profit on it. I would be in no way turning my back on my country by supporting them and their war effort with my coin. I mean we still buy 600k barrels of oil a day, that we DO NOT need, so they can continue bombarding innocent civilians and overturning a freely elected government.
