I'm with you on the familiarity aspect. Same as above and recall an umpire image like this.

edited to add: Not Billy Evans, but similar to. The plaid coat and that bag are not consistent with an umpire's gear that I'm familiar with. Appear to be street clothes, but maybe the shape of the duffle bag might help identify the sport/person. I suppose the question is whether or not it's actually baseball related. Perhaps polo?
